June Education Forum Recap: Pease Park Master Plan

2014-06-02_Kingsbury_Commons_for_Kim-rev-2

Mr. McGovern presented a program on the Pease Park Master Plan being organized by Pease Park Conservancy and PARD for historic Pease Park in a true successful public private partnership. The Pease Park Conservancy, Chaired by Richard Craig, has raised over $250,000 for the Master Plan that will emphasize the natural beauty of the park and the Shoal Creek Greenbelt, just off of downtown.

The new park infrastructure and support structures will allow for additional park programming in Pease Park. The Master Plan team will design a network of trail systems connecting the different areas/regions of Pease Park, as well as connecting to the Shoal Creek Greenbelt that will allow the flow for pedestrian and bicyclists to and through Pease Park, connecting the park to downtown and surrounding neighborhoods. There will be a number of B-cycle stations in the plan that will service Pease Park.

The Pease Park plan recognizes the need to promote optional modes of transportation to and through the park from our growing density of downtown and central Austin.

Once the Pease Park Master Plan is approved by City commissions and Austin City council, Pease Park Conservancy will begin fundraising for the implementation of the plan and developing a Pease Park Operational/Maintenance Plan. The emphasis of the Pease Park Master Plan is retaining the natural beauty of centrally located historic Pease Park, while bringing modern elements of design and functional infrastructure to make Pease Park the modern and sustainable park for future generations to enjoy.

Interested in learning about important happenings in the neighborhood?  Our monthly Educational Forums are a great way to stay informed and get access to decision makers.  They happen on the 3rd Monday of each month, from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.  Details for July’s forum will be published in the next two weeks.

Building Member Renewal Instructions

Renewing is easy, and because you are a Building Member, your DANA membership is discounted (or, at some buildings, FREE!)!

All you need to do is:

1. Email your building manager or info@downtownaustin.org to request your special discount code.  Please include your full name and address / building you live in!  We will try to get back to you within 24 hours (but usually before that!).  We may require address verification, so if you can provide that up front, it’s always helpful.

2. CLICK HERE (opens a new window)

3. Fill out the online form (create a login and password for your account if you don’t already have one) and choose your renewal option (Household – Renew or Individual – Renew).  Do NOT check auto-renewal, and DO NOT select any 2-year renewal options or Corporate renewal options (the discount code won’t work).

4. When prompted, enter the discount code (capitalization matters).  Discount codes do not work for 2-year options or Corporate Sponsorships.

4. Submit payment for your discounted membership. (If you live in a building that offers FREE membership, you will not need to submit any payment information).  A list of the building discounts is below.

5. Receive auto-confirmation email, which is also your receipt.

And that should be it!  Of course, let us know if you experience any issues.  Thanks for your continued support!
