About Blu Dot

No joke. We started as three college friends who loved modern furniture, but had a problem. The things we liked we couldn’t afford. And the things we could afford, we didn’t like. So we began designing and making the furniture we wanted. Turns out that other people had the same problem, and our products offered them a solution – accessible modern design. Sixteen years later, not a lot has changed. We’re still designing things we love. And having a laugh doing it. Good design doesn’t always have to be serious, does it?

June Education Forum Recap: Pease Park Master Plan

2014-06-02_Kingsbury_Commons_for_Kim-rev-2

Mr. McGovern presented a program on the Pease Park Master Plan being organized by Pease Park Conservancy and PARD for historic Pease Park in a true successful public private partnership. The Pease Park Conservancy, Chaired by Richard Craig, has raised over $250,000 for the Master Plan that will emphasize the natural beauty of the park and the Shoal Creek Greenbelt, just off of downtown.

The new park infrastructure and support structures will allow for additional park programming in Pease Park. The Master Plan team will design a network of trail systems connecting the different areas/regions of Pease Park, as well as connecting to the Shoal Creek Greenbelt that will allow the flow for pedestrian and bicyclists to and through Pease Park, connecting the park to downtown and surrounding neighborhoods. There will be a number of B-cycle stations in the plan that will service Pease Park.

The Pease Park plan recognizes the need to promote optional modes of transportation to and through the park from our growing density of downtown and central Austin.

Once the Pease Park Master Plan is approved by City commissions and Austin City council, Pease Park Conservancy will begin fundraising for the implementation of the plan and developing a Pease Park Operational/Maintenance Plan. The emphasis of the Pease Park Master Plan is retaining the natural beauty of centrally located historic Pease Park, while bringing modern elements of design and functional infrastructure to make Pease Park the modern and sustainable park for future generations to enjoy.

Interested in learning about important happenings in the neighborhood?  Our monthly Educational Forums are a great way to stay informed and get access to decision makers.  They happen on the 3rd Monday of each month, from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.  Details for July’s forum will be published in the next two weeks.
