Austin Energy and District Cooling Plant 3

At its June 21, 2017 meeting, the DANA board hosted a presentation from Austin Energy on District Cooling Plant 3 slated for a spot in the Seaholm District.

The cooling plant will expand Austin Energy’s chilled water system that provides air conditioning to residential and commercial buildings downtown. Cooling plants typically generate a certain amount of noise that can affect nearby residents.

Austin Energy representatives described the purpose of the plant, the location and configuration, and noise mitigation measures incorporated into the design.
